Being nominated for a Golden Fork Award by the @guildoffinefood Taste Awards was a highlight of our year at Goatsbridge Trout Farm. With 14,340 entries by 3,611 businesses from 110 countries, we were in excellent company. Our Hot Smoked Trout Fillets received three stars, which landed us one of Ireland’s top-three spots.
Although we didn’t take home the Golden Fork, we are proud of our accomplishment and had the experience of a lifetime.
The thrill of having one of our products receive three stars was a long-awaited affirmation for our family, who have been raising Rainbow Trout for three generations. We’re big believers in our lean protein superfood, and it was an excellent opportunity to share its remarkable flavour with other foodies and producers from across the globe.
Being in London for the 9 September awards was a pleasant though hectic change of scenery and pace for us. We arrived in the afternoon, met with our partners at Sainsbury’s, and hopscotched across the city gathering items for our tasting table. Before the awards ceremony, we spent hours chatting with other producers, tasting their impressive entries, and sharing stories of Goatsbridge. There’s a respect in the food industry that’s difficult to articulate, but our passion and camaraderie unite us.
The honour of being a top nominee in the Great Taste Awards was something we’ll never forget.
Our philosophy has always been that we are guardians of a natural resource, and we take our responsibility for preserving it seriously. Our ethical standards for ensuring “Happy Fish” are part of our business equation. The other part? Innovating healthy, flavour-packed products and recipes that keep people coming back for more.
Cheers to the 2025 Great Taste and Golden Fork Awards. We had a three-star experience and look forward to throwing our trout in the ring next year.
